Collecting Lucky Hell Notes (Spirit Money)

HellNoteFor thousands of years Buddhist tradition has created paper money which is legal tender in Hell. This paper money is burned, so that the person who just died or the dead ancestors who might have ended up in Hell would have something to spend. These Hell Notes are also burned on the Chinese New Year. Chinese people even create paper cars, houses, and other physical objects out of paper and burn them, so their ancestors can have basic luxuries in hell.

Many ex-service personnel or individuals who have never been to China, Burma, Vietnam, Korea, or other countries where Buddhism is practiced and Hell Notes are burned, are not familiar with the collecting of afterlife Hell paper money (spirit money). One of the tenets of Buddhism is ancestor worship. Unlike Christian's belief, hell is not an evil place run by the devil. Hell is an in between place of learning and a place of spirit waiting to be reborn. In other words, another dimension of life. The use of fire rituals in order to contact relatives who have went through the gate (portal of light) has long been used. In fact, my grandfather's tribe (Blackfoot) also contacted their ancestors through the use of ritual fire.

Ritual fire has long been used by Catholics, even though most do not really understand what they are doing when they light a candle in church. One of the purposes of ritual fire is to receive help and solace or give aid and love to those on the other side of the vale.

Because money has been worshipped by most people of Earth forever, it has usually been a bone of contention among family members. In America it is one of the major reasons for divorce, the burning of money cleanses the spirit of greed.

The larger the denomination burned, the more desire for contact and the more purchasing power the loved person in hell has.

If you have any doubt that ritual fire has power, try it yourself and you will know and perhaps understand why millions of people every year and for many centuries have performed this very powerful, magical, and esoteric fire ritual.

The God of Hell & The God of Money

GodofHellShown here on this Chinese information tag for Joss Paper is the God of Hell (left side) and the God of Money (right side).

You will note the deer standing in front of the God of Hell, showing that he is loved by the Animal Spirits of Earth.

The God of Money on the right, who runs the Bank of hell is a wizened old gentleman with a gift of nature (and offering) for the God of Hell.

Behind him stands his manservant who is the keeper of the bank's records for those who have burned and sent money to those in the afterlife.

Most people who have traveled extensively to these countries are not familiar with many of the esoteric belief structures and practices of the native people.

The funerals or death celebrations of the Orient differ greatly from western cultures who believe that they are dead until resurrected and most Americans have problems going to funerals of their own friends and families, let alone going to strange lands and even strangers funeral practices of other cultures. Maybe if they believed in spirit life after death, like all of the older more sensible religions do, their fear of death would be diminished.

From my understanding, the 7 Political Hell Notes we are offering came out of Vietnam in 1964. Most of the Chinese living in Vietnam at that time belonged to the Merchant Class and were importers, business people, and store owners. This 1964 set is a must for Vietnam War Collectors.

The Buddhist business people, having a degree of wealth, could afford to purchase and burn Hell Notes to keep alive and practice their cultural beliefs for their own and their ancestors benefits.

Most of the older and more valuable Hell Notes available (when found) came home with GI's when their tour of duty was over. Consequently, finding early pre-World War II sets of Hell Notes is almost unheard of.

In fact, 99% of the U.S. population has never heard of Buddhist Hell Notes, nor the beliefs that caused them to be produced in the first place. Most Americans try not to believe in hell or life after death and if they do, it's the last thing they want to think about.

For those of an open spiritual mind, Hell Notes can hold a great deal of personal fascination and if they can burn a few notes and get in touch with their ancestors, a new dimension opens up to them. Those individuals with closed analytical minds or those who lack spiritual understanding write them off as remnants of superstition.

Many of the Hell Notes are quite colorful and very beautifully done. The largest and highest denomination Hell Note we are offering is the 1 Billion Hell Note (1,000,000,000).

Many Buddhist Asians collect one or two of these notes at each death celebration or New Years celebration they are a part of, and to be burned at their own passing over time. This to increase their own circle of friends and to add wealth to their own afterlife.

Almost all Hell Notes have the traditional God of Hell (Keeper of the Gate and Judge) on the front and the Bank of Hell on the back.

The Bank of Hell is run by the Buddhist God of Money and appears on some Hell Notes.

The Political Hell Notes we offer are in 1 million denomination each and a set of these political, lucky, magical, mystical notes consist of 7 million and who knows, 7 million in the afterlife might even curry a few favors - even in hell. If this were not so, and the belief that the person and the ancestors would benefit when burned, why spend the large sum it cost to have them printed? If this ritual fire belief does not work for the individuals taking part, why has it been carried down through the centuries?

Hell Notes come with different Chinese lucky symbols on them and can vary greatly in size, color, denomination, and art work, depending on the size of the purchaser's wallet.
